Massage Therapy

The foundation of most my treatments.

Massage Therapy is a hands on manipulation of muscles, tissues, and joints with therapeutic goals of pain relief and re-alignment or relaxation. My style is predominantly therapeutic and intuitive, using your body's cues to find the perfect amount of pressure to facilitate releases. I use organic, unscented lotion, and tailor every appointment to your specific needs.

Treatments are done undressed (many clients choose to leave their underwear on) and draping is used to only uncover each treatment area individually to maintain client modesty and warmth. Accommodations can be made to treat over clothes for client comfort.

Please remove all heavy jewelry including watches, rings, and dangling earrings. Avoid wearing scented products such as perfumes or colognes. Avoid consuming pain altering substances (medications, alcohol, or drugs) prior to your massage unless medically necessary and disclosed to your practitioner.

Technqiues:

  • Swedish massage (kneading, stripping, and flushing)

  • Trigger point therapy

  • Joint mobilization

  • Myofascial release

  • Manual lymph drainage

Great for:

  • Pain relief

  • Muscle tension

  • Joint alignment

  • Enhancing flexibility

  • Injury prevention and recovery

  • Scar work

  • Improving circulation and reducing swelling

  • Relaxation

Recommended booking time:

Minimum 30 minutes (best for one area or issues), most commonly booked for 60 minutes (great for full body maintenance or focus on 2-3 issues) or maximum 90 minutes (best for most effective treatment).

Craniosacral Therapy

My favorite technique.

Craniosacral Therapy is a light touch modality that focuses on soothing the nervous system by unwinding tissues and joints. The primary contact points are the head, spine, and tailbone, but it is a full body treatment. There can be elements of hands off techniques (to balance chakras or release energy cysts) and SomatoEmotional release (intentional dialogue paired with hands on techniques to facilitate releases of emotion trapped in the body) as needed.

Treatments can be done undressed same as massage or clothed. For clothed sessions, please wear comfortable, loose fitting clothing. Avoid jeans, belts, and thick waist bands, bras with wires, or anything else overly restrictive.

Great for:

  • Headaches and migraines

  • Concussions

  • PTSD

  • Anxiety, stress, and sleep disorders

  • Tinnitus, dizzyness

  • Jaw problems

  • Trauma recovery

  • Pre and Post surgery

  • Pregnancy

  • Relaxation

Recommended booking time:

I often blend at least 5 minutes of cranio into each massage, though clients can request a half and half treatment with the time split evenly between massage and cranio. You can also book a cranio appointment completely separate from massage. Options include 30 minutes (best for children or clients who need a quick tune up), 45 minutes (most common), or a maximum 60 minutes.

Visceral Manipulation

My secret weapon I turn to when tissues are resisting release.

Visceral Manipulation is a gentle hands on technique focused on supporting the mobility and health of the organs. The treatment focuses on the abdomen, chest, and throat, and is often done skin-to-skin but can be done over the sheets as well. Soft intentionally placed compressions and twists are done to help organs unwind and release any ligaments holding them too tight.

If booking VM separate from your massge please wear comfortable, loose fitting clothing that can expose your abdomen. Avoid jeans, belts, and thick waist bands, bras with wires, one-piece outfits such as rompers, or anything else overly restrictive.

If treatment is needed closer to sensitive areas such as breasts or bladder, practitioner will communicate with client to ensure comfort, and contact is done over sheets or clothes to maintain client modesty and safety.

Pelvic work such as bladder and reproductive support is only offered to clients with female anatomy. Clients with male anatomy are encouraged to seek other providers for these specific services. Thank you for respecting this personal boundary.

Great for:

  • Balancing overall health

  • Chronic pain (especially neck and back)

  • Digestive support (IBS, constipation, diarrhea, bloating, acid reflux, gallstones, and more)

  • Respiratory restrictions

  • Female reproductive system balancing

  • Removed organs (min. 8 weeks post op or longer)

Recommended booking time:

Clients can request 10-20 minutes of their massage for visceral focus, or they can book 30-45 minute sessions to focus exclusively on organ balancing.

Intraoral

Exclusive focus on the jaw, both inside and out.

Practitioner wears gloves while using gentle massage and cranio techniques inside of the mouth to realign the bones of the face and to release the muscles of the jaw.

It is normal to feel like your teeth fit together differently for a day or two following treatment.

If you feel sharp pain during intraoral massage, please inform your practitioner.

Great for:

  • TMJ dysfunction

  • clenching

  • grinding

  • clicking

  • lock jaw

  • headaches

  • tinnitus

  • pre and post dental work

Recommended booking time:

Many clients request to include intraoral for 10-20 minutes of their massage appointment, or you can book a 30 minute massage to work on the jaw and head exclusively.

Myofascial Cupping

Can be added to any massage at no extra cost.

Myofascial cupping is the use of suction by plastic cups with the goal of shifting tissues, releasing toxins, and improving circulation. Similar to massage, it can be done with light, medium, or deeper pressure. It is most often done on the back, but can be done on legs, arms, and face as well.

Things to know before treatment:

- cupping can leave marks that last anywhere from two days to two weeks. They are NOT BRUISES (damage to blood vessels). Instead, the color comes from lifting toxins from the muscles to the surface so the body can flush them out.

- cupping marks can be different colors (pink, red, purple, blue, black) and last different amounts of time depending on your hydration, muscle health, and stress. To recover quicker, take a hot bath, drink more water, workout and stretch more.

- during a cupping treatment feeling warmth, itchiness, or tightness is normal (we are actively stretching tissues and encouraging new blood flow) but if you feel sharp pain please tell your practitioner so they can reduce the pressure.

Great for:

  • Pain relief and muscle tension

  • Enhancing tissue flexibility, circulation, and health

  • Detoxifying muscles of dead blood cells, lactic acid, and more

  • Improving circulation and reducing swelling

Recommended booking time:

Clients can request 10-30 minutes of their massage to include cupping.

Children massage

Small humans need time to unwind too.

Best for infants under 2 and children 5+ who are tolerant of laying on a table for treatment. Most often, sessions with kids are focused on relaxation, resolving tummy aches or anxiety, and teaching them about autonomy and self care. Consent is a huge priority.

Similar to massage, children can be undressed if comfortable (athletic shorts encouraged) or they can wear loose, comfortable clothing. Draping will be used to maintain client's modesty and safety.

Parents are encouraged to stay in the treatment room for the first visit and welcome to stay for subsequent massages until the child is comfortable on their own.

Great for:

  • Relaxation

  • Digestive support

  • Anxiety and stress

  • Learning about anatomy and self care

  • Practicing consent and boundaries

Recommended booking time:

30 minute sessions are recommend to start.

Pregnancy massage

Supporting mothers as their bodies change.

Similar to regular massage, ideally undressed down to your underwear or whatever is most comfortable. Treatments are most often done in side-lying position once client is showing (usually after 10 weeks).

Please inform your practitioner if you are pregnant even if it's early on in the first trimester so necessary accommodations can be made to ensure baby and momma's health and safety.

How it's different from normal massage:

  • side lying position

  • no added heat to the table

  • no mint oils

  • less joint mobilizations as ligaments loosen (particularly to hips/tailbone)

  • no deep pressure in low back

  • use of "induction" pressure points once needed

Great for:

  • Pain relief and tension release

  • Reducing swelling/edema

  • Relaxation

Recommended booking time:

Minimum 30 minutes (best if only wanting back and neck focus), most commonly booked for 60 minutes (great for full body maintenance).
