A list of my most common inquiries and things to know before booking your massage

Arrive feeling informed and at ease

How early should I arrive for my appointment?

Arrive five to ten minutes early, especially if you still have to fill out the health history form.

What if the clinic door is locked when I arrive?

Please wait in your car until closer to your appointment start time.

Front doors are locked during treatments to prevent walk ins from interrupting current massages. If you arrive too early for your appointment, we may still be in session with the previous client. To avoid this, recommended arrival time is 5-10 minutes early.

What should I wear to my appointment?

For massages, wear something comfortable you can easily change out of. Many people wear underwear or athletic shorts during their sessions. You’ll be draped and covered the entire session for warmth and privacy. Please remove jewelry in treatment areas and always take off smart watches.

For clothed sessions such as Craniosacral therapy or Visceral Manipulation (separate from massage) please avoid wearing belts, thick waist bands such as jeans, wire bras, or otherwise restrictive clothing and jewelry. Light, loose fitting clothing is ideal, and pants that the waistband can be rolled down are easiest to work with.

Please avoid wearing scented products, particularly perfumes and colognes.

Do you offer direct billing?

Yes, direct billing is available for multiple providers including Blue Cross, Sunlife, Manulife, Canada Life, Group Source, Desjardins, Equitable, Industrial Alliance, and all other providers partnered with Telus Health.

- Check your insurance policy prior to booking to verify if providers can submit on your behalf and how much coverage you have. Clinics are not able to see the details of your plan (what percent is covered or how much you have left for the year).

- In the event insurance billing can not be completed, you will be billed for the service and have to submit on your own.

What is your cancellation policy?

Because sessions are intentionally spaced with limited daily openings, 24 hours notice is required to cancel or reschedule appointments. Late cancellations or no-shows may be charged a fee.

Can I get a massage if I have a cough or runny nose?

If you are experiencing cold or flu symptoms, please cancel your treatment. There are no cancellation fees for illness and our priority is to maintain a safe, hygienic space.

If you have congestion from allergies or a long-term cough that is not contagious, you are welcome to come for your massage appointment. You may be requested to wear a mask depending on your presenting symptoms.

What do I do if I'm having problems with the booking portal?

Are you accepting new clients?

Yes, I am accepting new clients at my Stony Plain clinic: Treestone Massage Therapy & Wellness.

I am no longer accepting new clients in Edmonton at Back Be Nimble.

What if I'm late for my appointment?

If you are going to be more than ten minutes late, please text or call Unwind With Ashley at (587) 206-7355.

To ensure we stay on schedule and respect the time of both the practitioner and other clients, late arrivals will have their session time shortened accordingly. Your appointment will still end at the originally scheduled time, and the full service fee will apply.

Can I get a massage if I’m pregnant?

Yes—with adjustments. Please inform your practitioner of your pregnancy. Depending on how far along you are, sessions are most often done in side-lying and pressure is modified as required. Read more on the Services page of this website.

Can infants and children get massages?

Yes, 30 minute sessions are recommend to start.

Infants under two years of age are welcome for digestive support (e.g. colic) and nervous system balancing. Sessions may end before the 30 minute mark depending on the baby's needs.

Children five years old and up are welcome to come for massages, craniosacral therapy, and visceral manipulations if they are good with being on the treatment table for half an hour or longer. Most often, sessions with kids are focused on relaxation, resolving tummy aches or anxiety, and teaching them about anatomy, autonomy, and self care.

Parents are encouraged to stay in the treatment room for the first visit and welcome to stay for subsequent massages until the child is comfortable on their own.

Can I bring my kid with me to my massage?

I encourage parents to find childcare whenever possible to ensure maximum benefit during their session. With that said, kids are welcome to sit in the massage room or waiting room if they can be respectfully quiet for the length of the treatment.

Can I bring my pet with me to my massage?

No. Only registered service animals are welcome inside the clinic.

Are scented products such as oils or diffusers used?

Yes. If you have sensitivities to any of the scents listed below, please inform your practitioner in advance.

- Eucalyptus is often used in the treatment room diffuser.

- Peppermint oil is occasionally added during massages (practitioner will check with you before applying any on your skin).

- Citrus scented cleaner is used to sterilize room between clients.
